What is the “Art of Wellness“?

The Art of Wellness is true nourishment from everything you do in life: through the foods you eat, the company you surround yourself with, and the lifestyle choices you make each day. Every moment is an opportunity to improve your well being and create a more balanced life. It’s about aligning yourself to your deeper, innate intuition. To make choices that serve your intentions & move through your day to day life connected to your intuition, your heart and most importantly, the earth. It’s creating a life with an open heart & mind and nourishing yourself with love every step of the way.

What would you suggest to someone who is just starting to transform their lifestyle to a healthier healing life?

Take baby steps! Integrating new foods, thought patterns, and routines requires a lot of energy & determination. Stay strong, motivated & patient and know that you are right where you need to be!! Focus your energy on creating the life you want & do your best not to get tripped up by things that bring you down. Commit to rituals and routines that lift you up & make you feel like your best self every day. And don’t ever feel bad about asking for help! Talk to your family, your friends, and your partner when you need support. Reach out to wellness & spiritual practitioners to help guide you on your journey. Wherever you are – honor yourself, your body, and your life. And remember that each moment is the greatest gift.

What are your favorite self-care rituals?

I LOVE taking long baths, sipping tea, and preparing meals. I also take myself to the spa at least once a month for an infrared sauna session + massage & sometimes facial! I also massage my body from head to toe daily with Jiva-Apoha Atman oil. I do my best to properly hydrate my body everyday. This supports an inner & outer glow.

What essentials are needed to create a healthy healing kitchen & pantry?

A variety of dried herbs and spices + herbal teas turn your pantry into a healing pharmacy. Having a pure green powder + a few adpatogenic herbs to support the adrenals is important as well, especially if you’re living in the city. Also be sure to always have fresh herbs in the fridge + ginger/turmeric + lots of lemons and apple cider vinegar. Load up on seasonal fruits and veggies at the farmers market & stock your pantry & fridge with plenty of nuts and seeds for extra protein and healthy fats!

What inspired you to start Dahl House Nutrition?

For much of my youth I struggled with depression, anxiety, and body issues. I was a vegetarian from a young age, but didn’t know how to care for my body, and so I filled up on all the wrong foods (mostly empty carbs and comfort foods). Searching for a way to feel better, I started practicing yoga around the age of 20 and became immediately hooked on the uplifting feeling it gave me. Though yoga helped cure my anxiety and body issues, I still didn’t feel 100%. As a result, I moved out to California around the age of 22 and got really into natural living. I started seeing naturopaths & acupuncturists began shopping at farmers markets, and eliminated gluten from my diet. The waves of deep depression lifted, and I began choosing exercise over nights out at the bar. I loved how I was feeling. Transforming my relationship to health transformed my relationship to life. I looked younger, leaner, and felt happier and more radiant than ever before. Eager to learn more and wanting to share my knowledge and insights with the world, I enrolled in a comprehensive nutrition program at Institute of Holistic Nutrition, in Toronto. From there, I moved to New York City and studied Holistic Cooking at the Natural Gourmet Institute. I took my knowledge and skills and created my own business, Dahl House Nutrition. What I learned has forever changed the way that I live and I am beyond grateful for the ongoing benefits. My goal is to continue to grow, educate myself, and help others achieve optimum health.

What are some of your daily self-love and gratitude practices?

  • Nourishing my body with foods, people, and environments that serve my highest good.
  • Moving my body, everyday.
  • Working with my mind. Nurturing my thoughts and soothing my inner child. Embracing every part of me – dark & light.
  • Lighting candles, burning sage and meditating.
  • Listening to healing sounds like guided meditations or soothing flute music.
  • Getting plenty of rest each night. I shoot for 8 hours. Also use hypnotherapy some nights to reach deeper, more restful states of sleep.
  • I generally end the day with a gratitude list – outwardly expressing my appreciation for everything I am, everything I have, & everything I am becoming.
